Digital
Orthophotos
A digital
orthophoto is a photographic image that has been converted to raster
form and horizontally corrected for the effects of relief displacement,
aircraft tip and tilt, and other image distortions and displacements.
It is a photographic map stored in a digital computer environment.
The quality
of digital orthophotos is dependent upon the quality of each step
in the process. Component steps include aerial photography, ground
control survey or airborne geodetic position satellite (ABGPS) survey,
aerotriangulation, DTM / DEM collection, image scanning, ortho-rectification,
and digital
or hardcopy output.
We utilize
several commercial software programs to create individual orthophotos
from the various components, and then stitch them together as seamless
orthophoto mosaics. Delivery products include full or compressed
digital files, or hardcopy plots.
